Service: The Mobile Disc Golf Experience
Event: Rockingham Music Festival
City: Rockingham, VT
Status: Complete
The Big Idea for The Mobile Disc Golf Experience at Rockingham Music Festival was to utilize the undulating hillside that brought users to one of the highest points on the property, while offering another hole in an underutilized field in the backstage area that was paired with other recreational uses such as horseshoes, both of which were used by artists and patrons alike. Our 4-hole course was used throughout the weekend by patrons of all ages and skill levels, as the beginner-friendly course was in close proximity to the main stage area and dotted with course signage that depicted hole information, in addition to wayfinding signage to enhance the user experience. The course moved users from on-site farm relics and trickling streams to prospect and refuge points to take in not only the views of the surrounding landscape, but the sounds of the bands in the concert area.
The 4-hole course moved users throughout the entire property, while demanding an array of shots to successfully par the course. Several holes, although short in length, were perched on ridge lines adjacent to rough or wood lines. While the rough lines rarely came into play, the perched baskets kept precision a priority, as any slightly errant shots would roll out and leave a little longer putt than player’s wished for. With that being said, the beginner-friendly course was another wonderful addition to the sprawling festival layout that was comprised of multiple stages, state-of-the-art lighting, a bonfire and multiple campgrounds. The Explore Disc Golf vending booth offered a variety of products — from DX disc starter kits to Star plastic from Innova discs to Explore Disc Golf apparel and literature explaining the sport of disc golf. Our FREE DISC RENTALS continue to be extremely popular as it allows patrons to familiarize themselves with this ever-growing sport, in addition to offering avid disc golfers an outlet for their energies if they left their own discs at home.
We have received a terrific response to our Mobile Disc Golf Experience thus far, and have many more music festivals and other events on the books for this summer. If you’d like to offer disc golf at any company outing, festival or event in your town, please contact us at info@explorediscgolf.com to bring this wonderful sport to your area!
