UMass Amherst approves permanent signage for disc golf course!
After nearly 3 years, officials at UMass Amherst have green-lighted permanent signage for the
9-hole disc golf course our firm designed and installed in March 2013. The course was proposed in May 2010, and underwent a long approval process before a “Proof of Concept” phase was agreed upon. After the course was deemed a success in May 2013, it was allowed to become a permanent fixture on the Commonwealth’s flagship campus. While this was very rewarding, permanent signage and tee pads were never given permission until December 2015. It is now with great excitement that our graphics department has begun hand rendering tee signs and the course map for the course! Manufacturing will begin soon, while we hope to see Facilities Management installing the signs in late winter.

Consultations and Feasibility Studies continue throughout winter months!
By now, many of you have probably heard us say “Book your Consultations in the winter months due to increased visibility” numerous times. Over the December-January time period, we have been contracted for Feasibility Studies on three different parcels, and have two more coming up before the end of the month. Recently, we were brought to a property that was looking for a private-pay-to-play course on 26 acres in Eastern Massachusetts, as well as a 70-acre parcel with a Conservation Restriction. The Conservation Restriction parcel was quite intriguing, as the rather inconspicuous landscape found at the entry and arrival sequence gave way to drastic changes in topography, specimen trees and even a beautiful cove near the parcel’s southern edge. We look forward to following up with each of these clients, and hopefully returning to both sites in the early Spring!

We are proud members of the Innova Disc Golf Ambassador Team for 4th year in a row!
The concept of Explore Disc Golf was hatched while receiving our Masters in Landscape Architecture at UMass Amherst in 2010. The first appearance of The Mobile Disc Golf Experience came in 2012, while our first permanent course design was finally approved in December 2012. Following up on continued conversations with Innova Disc Golf — the leading manufacturer in the game — Team Manager Jonathan Poole sent an e-mail inviting us to become a member of their Ambassador Team in January 2013. We cannot thank Innova Disc Golf enough for seeing the potential we had at Explore Disc Golf early on, as we are so thrilled to announce that we’ve been asked back for the 4th straight year!
We are so extremely blessed to be a part of the Innova Disc Golf family!
